NaNoWriMo
National Novel Writing Month
I had such a great time last year writing with Alex. He was
the one who actually encouraged me to start writing my novel. He was the one
who reminded me of the dream I had once and that it would make a great story. I
love that kid. Well, he is not a kid anymore.
He did NaNoWriMo last year and although he did not finish
his book in November, he did write over 50,000 words that month. It was what he needed
to get him started. I saw my son start to come out of his shell. He even
started talking to people about his book. I almost cried the evening we went to
a write in at Erin Phillips' house and he actually read his prologue out loud to
a room full of people he did not know well. Writing his novel has truly changed
his life. He finished his book this summer and is now in the editing process.
He decided for NaNoWriMo this month that he would write the second book in the
series. He is so excited for today and to begin his new book.
I did not finish my book last November either. With the
Christmas Production last year I did not even get to 50,000. But I got real close.
I think my ending total was just under 48,000. I think that was a pretty good
total. This year I am determined to finish my novel and maybe even start
writing a play that the Lord laid on my heart.
So, this November, Alex, William, and I are embarking on the
NaNoWriMo adventure. Alex is working on a new book. I want to finish mine and
William is trying to write one blog post a day through November. I love the
time that I get to work and talk with my older boys. It is so special even more
so since Alex is going to be 19 this February and William turns 18 in March.
Wow! I have so little time left to really be in their lives on a daily basis that
I want to take every opportunity I can to build memories with them. That is why
I am very involved in STP. I want to tie heartstrings with my children.
I am excited about what we are doing this month. I want to
really finish my book so that is one goal. I have other goals for the month.
o
here are my goals for the month of November.
1.
Finish the Asa Rend House – I am working on a
new title.
2.
If I finish my book I want to start working on a
play. Ideas to come later. I have a few.
3.
Do scripture writing and journaling every day.
4.
Blog post, if not every day, at least 3 times a
week.
5.
Finish the Philippians 6 week study on Joy.
6.
Take up journaling in Alex’s Bible at least 2
times a week.
Wow! I know this sounds like a lot but some of these things
are connected. Most of my blog posts come from my scripture writing and journaling
or the current Bible study I am doing. I just don’t want to write. I want to
further my walk with the Lord. He has encouraged me that writing is what he
wants me to do right now. I cannot ignore what He leads me to write anymore. He
has given me this gift and I want to use it to bring glory and honor to His
name.
So be prepared for an onslaught of blog posts. I write from
the heart so get ready for a journey. I hope you all are encouraged by what I
write. It encourages me that the Lord leads me to write these things down. I
also am glad that my kids are going to have a record of my journey through this
earthly life. I am excited to see where the Lord leads me next.
So excited for you and your kids. You so inspire me! Keep up the good work. I am doing the November writing this month and working on a brand new book. So excited! Can't wait to read all your writings as well as Williams!! Much love, Emily
