Photo Friday - The Love of Two Mothers
This is one of the devotional books that I am reading this year. I always like to pick at least one to go through each year. This year I have chosen a few shorter devotionals. This is one of them and there is a cool story to go behind how this book ended up in possession. It involves my mother and my mother-in-love.
My mom is always posting encouraging quotes on Facebook. She owns this book and posted something from it a few months ago. I commented on how much I needed to hear what she posted that day. I simply posted how I needed to get a copy of this book for myself. That was all.
My mother-in-love read the same post and my comment. The next thing I know I get a text from her saying how she had just purchased the book for me and to look for it in the mail.
I was brought to tears in thankfulness that God has surrounded me with these two women who encourage me to walk closer to the Lord.
Both of my parents were saved later in life and they raised us three girls with a love for Jesus. All three of us girls came to faith around the same time and are following Him closer each day. My older sister married a pastor and they serve the Lord in Colorado. My younger sister and her husband are serving the Lord in Jaen, Spain as missionaries. What a powerful testimony to the grace of God in my parents lives!!!
My mother-in-love raised her 5 boys in the Lord and each one is serving God in various ways today. She has over 20 grandchildren and some are reaching adulthood and being sent out to serve the Lord too. Again, what a powerful testimony to how God can use a family to bring glory to His name.
I realize that not everyone has been as blessed as Carl and I in the way that we were raised. It makes me praise the Lord even more that we had the upbringing we did. I know that my parents and Carl's parents pray for us every day and I pray for them. I am blessed that they are my physial family but also that we are members of an even greater family - the family of God.
Every time I pick up this book to read it I think of the two women that God gave me to help me navigate this life.
