Two Snow Storms and No Internet

Finally left the Picture Lake Campground after 12 days and two snow storms and no internet for 2 weeks.

It was not my favorite campground. They did have nice showers though.

I much prefer space between sites. I felt like we were packed in like a can of sardines.

We made the best out the situation though. And we were very close to family of some very dear friends. Angie Gudzinas, who is a very dear friend, used to live in the area and her mom and dad still live about 15 minutes from the campground. In fact, one day when the propane did not seem to be working in the camper (more about that later), Mr. Bob came over to see if he could fix it. They later invited the whole crew over for dinner. We had a great time visiting and the kids had a blast getting to know their friends grandparents. Mr. Bob and Skeeter were awesome to open up their home to us.

Carl had to go into work today to take his final exam. He got home around lunch time. Then began the debate of what we were going to do next. Could we even get out of the campground? Would we be stuck until the snow melted? Where would we go? Would there be any campground that we could get into? The plan originally had been to go towards Williamsburg and visit Jamestown and Yorktown. We did not know if that would a possibility now. We checked at several campgrounds and made the decision to try and leave.

We got everything packed up in good time and went to leave. After a few tense moments at the site where it looked like we were going to get stuck, we were finally on the road. Once we got out of the campground, it was smooth sailing. We had a very uneventful trip to Williamsburg and made excellent time. I love trips like that. As we were driving into town we passed a motel and Carl and I just looked at each other and busted out laughing.

Our honeymoon was not what you would call a nice trip. We stayed in Williamsburg and we were broke. Carl picked the most inexpensive place he could find. He choose the Family Inn and it was inexpensive for a reason. Let us just say that Carl owes me a second honeymoon one day. Well, as we turned on the road to the campground we saw… the Family Inn and it looked even worse than when we stayed in 1997. Wow! We had to explain to the kids all about our honeymoon and why we were laughing so hard. Great memories.

We were able to pull into the campground which looks a little nicer than the one we just left. The sites are a little farther apart. We will have to explore tomorrow when it is light. When they say that they did not plow, they really meant it. We pulled into a spot and the camper got stuck. We decided that we would stay right where we were. We could not move even if we wanted to. We are praying that we can get out on Sunday. We set up (not quite level but we could not move the camper to level anything) and prayed we could get the van unstuck. Carl was able to get the van moving and we all went to go to dinner. We found a lovely little brick oven pizza place and had Sicilian style pizza that was very filling.

We are now enjoying some free WiFi ( finally) and catching up on some updates. Yeah!!!!!

I have decided that to keep myself from falling behind on updates that I am going to start putting up daily posts and trying (I stress TRYING) to journal every day. I know that I need to go back and post some things about the last two weeks but right now I need to sleep. The restaurant had an icy parking lot and I wiped out on the sidewalk. I am in some pain and need to rest. Please pray that I would not be in too much pain tomorrow. I was also got caught in the crossfire of a snowball battle. William got me right in the side of the face and almost broke my glasses. Not a good day for me physically. I hope to get some time tomorrow to post about our adventures the last two weeks and how you really can camp in the snow.
