Celebrating the Small Moments of Kindness

Image
February 20, 2018 I had a discussion with a man earlier this week about how young ladies and young men have been raised in today’s society. He was lamenting the fact that young ladies now seem intent on making young men feel inferior. He was commenting on the fact that young ladies refuse and even get angry at young men or older men who hold the door for them and treat them with respect. It got me thinking about the fact that he is absolutely correct. We are bombarded today with the fact that women are better than men. Men are portrayed as idiots in movies and television shows. Men are made out to be dumb and not needed whereas women are the strong ones who really do all the work. I have watched it for years. I am not saying all of Hollywood and television is like that. What I am saying is that there is a lot out there that shows men in a bad light. Are there shows and movies that show women in a bad light? Absolutely. Both are wrong. I guess my point is that we should not...

Victory Over Worry

February 19, 2018 “You see, being a Christian does not mean that you won’t need to fight any battles. You are now a strategic target for the enemy. One of the most successful weapons of the devil is worry. To be a conqueror in that battle, you have to learn to listen to what the Bible says about fighting the enemy.” Corrie ten Boom When I think about what happened in this woman’s life I am astonished that she could write these words. I have been studying the life of Corrie ten Boom. The Lord gave me the idea for a play that He wants me to write. It revolves around the life of this dear saint. I have been reading as many books as I can about her life. I also watched the movie The Hiding Place . I cried through the movie and many times in her writings my eyes mist over with what she experienced and the wisdom and knowledge she learned from her trials and tribulations. My love for this dear woman arose several years ago when we were on our 6-month journey across the ...

Live Like Jesus

February 17, 2018 1 John 4:17 (NLT) And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgement, but we can face him with confidence because we LIVE LIKE JESUS here in this world. James 1:22 (NLT) But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. These are the two verses that God had me meditating on this morning. What a place to be on a dreary Saturday morning. A lot has been on my heart lately. So much that I am pondering every day. I think God has me in a tough place right now to teach me that I need to rely on him all the more. I am watching my adult children or almost adult children struggle with all the decisions that come about from starting to move away from me as a parent. The relationships are changing and that is a very hard road to travel. Finding that balance between being a parent and being able to tell your child what to do and expecting that c...

An Empty Filling

February 6, 2018 I know that it has been a while. I am truly sorry for my absence for the month of January. Didn’t January just seem like the longest month? It did to me. It just kind of dragged on forever. As soon as classes started back in January we had a production. William’s TTA class performed Sleeping Beauty. It was a fantastic production and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but we were at the building almost every day for two weeks. Right after that Carl and I took two of the boys to Great Wolf Lodge. We had a great time, but it wore us all out.   We got back on a Tuesday and on Thursday, we had auditions for the adult production at STP, Hunchback of Notre Dame. We had snow in the middle of all this. Now for my Northern friends who may laugh I want to explain to you why this is a big deal. Yes, we got snow. Lots of it. More than we have seen in years. Schools closed for three or four days. It was so cold that nothing melted. What did melt became sheets of ice...
